Free agency has died down. There is no longer the chaotic urgency to sign the best player available. The market is now died off, but this could be the time to shine for the Cowboys. With a relatively low amount of cap space, the Cowboys can make a number of small moves in free agency. I’m looking at players who could fit the Cowboys scheme and mainly provide depths in areas of weaknesses for us. You aren’t going to find a solution at this point of free agency, so we might as well sign some cheap depth while the market is down.

Of the 3 I would like for them to get Avant. He pretty good

I hope Dallas signs none of the players on this list.

Competition for Bernadeau should come through the draft. Beasley and Harris would have their growth slowed by Avant. Ed Reed should’ve retired after the super bowl. He has nothing left in the tank.

If I had to take one it would be Brian Waters, hands down. I’m intrigued if they could get a player like Davin Joseph, who is 7 years younger than Waters, on a one year “prove it” type of deal. The reason is that I don’t think Waters will sign and go through camp (like last year).

or here is a novel idea, maybe draft a legit FS in the 1st round and stop looking at has beens and small school mid round project picks.

You’re really passionate about drafting a FS.

Just get younger. Reed is awful at this point. Don’t need Avant and don’t want him in front of Beasley or Harris. Waters… ok, but not happening since he hasn’t even had surgery on his torn bicep.

I like Waters and would sign him , also Iwould go after Jolly or Williams at DT from the Vikings , the rest of this list is

I agree 100% with the idea to add a free agent guard, and Waters showed well for us. Apparently he really enjoyed playing for us as well, and still works out at our facilities. You’re dead-on about needing Bernadeau to cross-train for center and guard support. If he is starting he wouldn’t have the time to keep sharp at center. Lastly on guard, if we don’t get Zack Martin in 1st round to start at guard, the rest of the draft class is a big reach to find a high quality starter from Day 1. Very thin position.

WR is very deep in this draft, all the way through the 4th round. That’s where I’d address adding a WR that could come in and play asap. Guys like Josh Huff, Michael Campanaro, and Bruce Ellington all would contribute right away and should be available past round 2. WR is too deep not to find a Day 1 contributor past round 2.

FS is also a lot like guard in this draft. Past Pryor, Clinton-Dix, and Ward there’s not much there to exceed what Wilcox can already offer us. Not sure if Ed Reed is the right guy to bring in for a reasonable price or not, but a veteran would be the answer to help. Johnson, Wilcox, and Heath are all novices to the game still getting their feet wet, as not one has started a full season. Be nice to bring in a vet that has solid starting experience to help them learn to direct the defense. Sure we tried it the last 2 years, but both those guys were chumps before they even got here. Most of us knew they didn’t have starting talent.
