Terrell McClain’s short career has been a bit more tenuous in comparison. The Cowboys will make McClain’s fourth team in as many years. After being a third round pick in 2011 by the Carolina Panthers, the former alum of South Florida played and started in 12 games his rookie season. McClain recorded 19 total tackles and one sack before suffering a season-ending knee injury in December of 2011. Before the injury, McClain was ranked as the worst starting defensive tackle in the NFL against the run by Pro Football Focus. The following year, McClain was released by the Panthers. And after spending a week with the New England Patriots, Terrell finally landed in Houston with the Texans. In his last two seasons with them, McClain recorded just 10 tackles in 19 games as a back-up.
Although the Cowboys have not yet set up any additional meetings with possible free agents, rumors abound at Valley Ranch that the team has serious interest in Chicago Bears defensive tackle Henry Melton and Denver Broncos defensive end Robert Ayers. As for Melton, the Fort Worth native is now headed to Minnesota to meet with the Vikings.
