With the latest announcement that the NFL will be raising the salary cap nearly $10 million in 2014, the possibility that the cap-striken Dallas Cowboys will be able to afford a big-name free agent is becoming more of a reality. But as the Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones mentioned last week, free agency has become overrated in this league.
Still, Dallas has so many holes to fill and the NFL Draft can only fill so many of them. Therefore, the Cowboys could look to fill some of those needs through free agency. If the Cowboys are able to create enough cap space to sign one top free agent, which position should they fill?
Some of the free agent names floating around Valley Ranch and the Cowboys blog-o-sphere include: defensive tackle Henry Melton, safety Jarius Byrd, safety T.J. Ward, defensive tackle B.J. Raji, defensive tackle Randy Starks, wide receiver Eric Decker, defensive tackle Linval Joseph, linebacker Brandon Spikes, defensive end Jared Allen, defensive end Arthur Jones, defensive end Michael Johnson, defensive end Michael Bennett, safety Malcolm Jenkins, safety Louis Delmas, offensive lineman Rodger Saffold, and even controversial guard Richie Incognito, just to name a few.
If you could only choose one, what position would they fill for Dallas? Place your vote below and feel free to explain your choice in our comments section.
