Several NFL mock drafts (on major sports media sites) seem to suffer from similar blind delusions when analyzing the Cowboys.

A majority of these ‘experts’ are still predicting Dallas will draft either safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix or Calvin Pryor with their 16th pick.

Here’s the real deal…Dallas is more likely to draft a top-4 WR before any safety. Especially after their outstanding combine performances in speed and hands drills.

To illustrate my point, I’m going to list 15 (non-defensive line) players that Dallas would either select or effectively use for trade bait to a very willing suitor.

It’s not simply a matter of addressing needs in Dallas, or even how they view the 15 players.  These prospects are rated well above the safeties by the majority of the NFL.

Any player Jerry Jones doesn’t want for himself, another team will press hard to trade into.  The Cowboys WILL draft a WR, LB, or DL at pick 16…or simply trade down.

Good article and I hope your right about the d line pick more important than safety.the only disagreement I have is manzeil. Jerry would draft him within the first 10 seconds of the clock starting if he’s there at 16. The headlines and marketing would be far too hard for Jerry to pass up.

Let’s hope you are correct. IMO, the first pick must be a DT. Jernigan, Hageman, Donald. Maybe trade back to mid 20′s still get one of them. If Lewan is there, take him. He would be a day 1 starter and set the bookends for the OL for the next 10 years. Mosley would be a nice pick up since our LBs can’t stay healthy.
