Scenario #2: Go with a defensive Tackle

This is what most people think the Cowboys would go for and I wouldn’t blame them for that line of thinking. To effectively run the Kiffin/Marinelli defense, the defensive line needs to generate a pass rush. With defensive tackle Jason Hatcher most likely leaving in free agency, the Cowboys have to pick up a tackle in the draft. Now, I would disagree with picking up a tackle with the first pick, because the draft class is so deep this year. But, if you were going to pick one, you would go with Florida State tackle Timothy Jernigan.  This player has some ability coming off the line and has excellent burst. He can disrupt any offensive line he comes across and would be a perfect fit for the three technique in the tampa-2 defensive system.  Don’t mind his laziness seen in the national championship game, which was a case of the flu. Other game tape shows he was in for the majority of the snaps this season. He would be a perfect addition for the defense going forward.

Is it just me or does Jones’ fashion choice of a black ball cap with a black star, rather than silver, smack of the Darth Vader look?

One key is what the Bears do at 14. They also are desperate for D help. For Cowboys definitely not a CB. Have to fix DL to help DBs. If the right DT is there, then take him. To much of a need and to risky to wait. Stating that the draft is deep is meaningless. Talent drops considerably after the first 2 or 3 rounds. Trading back to mid 20′s and getting another 2nd round pick would be good, but absolutely don’t trade out of the first round.
