4. DARYL SMITH – BALTIMORE RAVENS
32 years old, 6’2″ 248 lbs. – Drafted in Round 2 in 2004
Although Smith is going to be 32 years old at the start of the season, he’s been a solid player his entire career and may have had his best season in 2013. Smith led the Ravens with 123 tackles including four for loss and added five sacks, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and a touchdown. He is durable, playing in all sixteen games in 4 of his previous five seasons and is adept in both the run game and coverage. Simply put, he’d clearly be the second best linebacker on this team, even at age 32. He also should come fairly cheap given his age and his previous deal with Baltimore (1 year/$1.125 million). If you’re wondering why he’ll likely be available, Baltimore’s cap situation is kind of tough and they have many younger players that play key roles who should absorb what little space they do have.
