March 3 – Franchise Tagging Deadline

Prior to 4:00 p.m. EST, deadline for clubs to designate Franchise or Transition Players.

Cowboys Angle: The rumor around the blogosphere is the Cowboys might be interested in tagging 31-year old free agent defensive tackle Jason Hatcher. “Hatch” is coming off a career year recording 41 total tackles and 11.0 sacks in 2013.  It will cost Dallas $8.45 million to keep the first time Pro Bowl around in 2014. And with the team an estimated $31 million over the salary cap earlier this year, the Cowboys front office will have to do a lot of shuffling to make that happen.

Side note: Only eight NFL players were franchise tagged in 2013.

I feel about 95 percent confident that Cowboys will get that game against Seahawks. The NFL loves to give Dallas a road game to start the season. That stadium will break the world record for being the loudest again. Going to be brutal if Cowboys indeed are the lucky ones to have to deal with that game. Talking about a veteran safety, why in the heck did the Cowboys cut Will Allen last year? Yea he wasn’t anything great but would have been 100 times better then that sorry Heath dude who has no clue how to play football!
