So the Dallas Cowboys again watched the Super Bowl from home this year. And I am sure they were counting their blessings they weren’t facing that insanely good defense run by the Seattle Seahawks. If you tried to compare Dallas’ defense to the Seahawks, it would be like one of those before and after pictures you would see on a diet infomercial. Oh and the Cowboys would be the ugly, hairy, fat, before person.

The Cowboys will have to face that defense next year though. And as a scary a thought that is for most fans, we have to deal with it. It might even be the season opener on primetime, because Dallas still somehow generate a lot of ratings for being so mediocre. How do the Cowboys avoid such an embarrassment?

Very Simple! Have the owner Jerry Jones, fire the general manager Jerry Jones immediately! Now, you might be saying that is a tired old argument…and it is. But I found some new evidence that really pissed me off about Mr. Jones.

Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor, the all-pro hard hitting safety, was drafted in the 5th round of the 2010 NFL draft. The Cowboys had the 126th pick in the 4th round and selected cornerback Akwasi Owusu-Ansah.Their intent was to convert him over to safety. The Seahawks came in just a few picks later and picked Chancellor. Now, Seattle’s pick is celebrating being a Super Bowl champion and an All-Pro safety. And Dallas’ pick has bounced between five different teams in his short four-year career, most recently landing on the Detroit Lions roster in December. That has to be a kick to the crotch for Cowboys fans.

Jones has a history of terrible draft decisions. Remember, Dallas also had a chance to select Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy in 2009. But team officials felt they had pretty good running backs in Marion Barber and Felix Jones. Both players would eventually leave the team disappointed and the Cowboys selected Oklahoma back DeMarco Murray in the third round just two years later. WOW!

So the only way the Cowboys can be assure to be competitive with Seattle next year is to draft better. With Jerry in charge, it doesn’t look so good.
