2014 NFL Mock Draft: Cowboys, Jerry Jones Shock The World!

LANDRY HAT MOCK DRAFT LOGONow that the Super Bowl is over, the focus for all NFL teams shifts to the upcoming Scouting Combine and the eventual NFL Draft. For a team with salary cap limitations like the Dallas Cowboys, the draft represents their best chance to improve their club going into the new season. And as Dallas featured the worst defense in the league last season, it makes sense that a majority of their selection would be slated in that direction.

But in my newest post-Super Bowl mock draft, facilitated through the Mock Draft Simulator at Fanspeak.com, one of the top players in the drafts drops into their laps. Unfortunately, it’s not a big position of need. But I still believe Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones would pull the trigger anyway. Here’s my full first round mock draft plus a detailed explanation of the Cowboys pick:

Nothing Jerry ” P T Barnum” Jones does would surprise me anymore. Continue to disappointment me? Yes. Surprise me? No. But in answer to your question, I would keep him and see if he developes into something as good as Russell Wilson who is also undersized for a modern QB.

How would Romo’s career be disappointing??? He wasn’t a top ten draft pick! Hell he wasn’t EVEN drafted! I understand that the QB of The Dallas Cowboys is under a different microscope, but if he retires without a SB win. His career will not be a disappointment. The only disappointment will be that the fans and media didn’t appreciate what he did playing the position. Dallas will be smart taking the best defensive player available in this years draft.

If he falls to 16, yes they should pick him up. For every reason you mentioned. Not a fan of his but it would allow them to be creative with trade opportunities.

Mute point Jerry just said two weeks ago he doesn’t draft a qb high just to groom them for someone else to benefit. Cowboys should have let romo played this last year and if he did something then pay him if not let him walk which with his back now would be a great move. Then draftin someone like Johnny Football would make sense. But they pretty much tie to Romo.

I would rather fail miserably this season and see Jameis Winston next season. Defense, Defense, Defense!

i shouldnt have to say anything other than tebow to show that this is a horrible idea. but i guess i will throw in he is NOT a good qb. great athlete that had an amazing line and mike evans to throw to. if the other qb’s in the draft had the kind of time he had to make a decision they would have never lost a game.
