If you are scoring at home the answers to those questions are, in order, Dez Bryant, Dez Bryant, Dez Bryant, Dez Bryant, Dez Bryant, Dez Bryant, and Justin Blackmon. Let’s be real honest here, Dez Bryants 2013 is better than Blackmon’s entire career to this point. In 20 career games Blackmon has 93 receptions for 1280 yards, and 6 Touchdowns. In 16 games last year Dez matched those 93 receptions, had 1233 yards, and more than doubled Blackmon’s career TD mark with 13. In fact, Dez Bryant’s 2012 and 2013 seasons are both better than Blackmon’s career to this point. In 2012 Dez had 92 receptions for 1382 yards and 12 TDs.

Oh, and let’s not forget the knucklehead angle. In 2013 Dez’s detractors tried desperately to paint him as a diva, trouble maker. They cited a blow up on the sidelines in the Detroit game as further evidence of his unsavory character. One blogger friend of mine, we’ll call him DCBashatic, practically crucified Dez after that game, as did media everywhere. It was the single biggest story of that week. Until the audio of what Dez was saying came to light. Then everyone could hear him urging his teammates not to give up. I hope the crow tasted yummy.

Then to top it all off in the stripped gears and wrong about Dez faction, when a highly anticipated gaming system was coming out at midnight one night this last season, not only did Dez go buy himself one, he also bought one for everyone who was there at the store in line waiting for their own system. This is a knucklehead? Yeah, I get the unsavory flavor of what happened with his Mother in 2012.  I further think that is likely on her for instigating. History has shown that she has some knucklehead in her. But we’re not talking about his Mom here. Leave that to Jeff Ireland. If he can find another job.

The guy who was supposedly not a knucklehead is Justin Blackmon. He only began 2013 on a 4 game suspension for violation of the substance abuse policy. Then he played for games, peed dirty again, and was suspended indefinitely. That is the classic case of what a knucklehead is. On top of this he has two DUI’s on his driving record from his college days. While Blackmon is absolutely talented he can’t stand in Bryant’s shadow without shivering from the cold.

Ditto on Beasley. Ditto x2 on Harris. A true bright spot in an otherwise dismal year for Dallas.

Not so fast on Williams. His rookie blunders cost Dallas points and one game. In my view, he didn’t know his play book, but I wasn’t there. Can he improve? I sure hope so. I’m getting tired of watching this team draft players, cut them and then have those guys beat us with other teams.

I will forever disagree with you re: Bryant’s sideline tirade, pep talk or not. It sent the wrong message and it looked unprofessional. Landry would have never allowed that kind of demonstration for any reason, positive or not.

But. All season I watched the guy get double and triple teamed, in near hand to hand combat on every single play, fight his way clear and make some eye- popping catches. If his supporting cast had cut him a break and worked harder, Bryant could possibly have added 6 more TD’s to his total. He’s a beast and he’s coming into his own as a player right about now.

I disagree that we need to draft another high WR. If this team’s philosophy is to transition into a two TE team, then we should be set at both positions. Besides, emphasis needs to be placed with every one of our seven selections at cementing the foundation, i.e., OG and defensive line/Safety.

They need to use Harris more he can make things happen! Don’t understand why they cut Jesse Holly after one season? Every time he was in the game he made plays!

Great article. I’m a little tougher on the rookie but he still earned a B, regardless. I also see a need in bringing in another speed demon WR who can shock and awe CBs with 4.3 afterburners all game long. Whether that’s in the draft, UDFA, or a vet, IDC. This will take pressure off Dez and open up the rest of the offense, especially the running game.
