Owner Jerry Jones is the boss of General Manager Jerry Jones.  Jerry will always be first and foremost the owner of the Dallas Cowboys.  Which is where his ultimate loyalty will reside above all else.

It’s simply not a job within an organization, it’s the ruler who decides the shape and direction of the company.  He declares the positions it will employee, the wages, etc. It means full and sole responsibility over financial and organizational decisions.

Never confuse the fact that Owner Jerry reigns highly above General Manager Jerry.  I assure you when Cowboys Stadium was being built and also during the renaming negotiations with AT&T, GM Jerry was hardly ever around.

Owner Jerry was too busy wheeling and dealing the financial decisions of the company to devote the proper time commitment to the GM role.  The full-time job of the GM doing what’s best for the on-the field success of the team was deserted.
