Here’s my take:

“Regardless of what the Cowboys record is from season to season, the moniker ‘America’s Team’ represents the history of the franchise over what their current state is. When I think of that term, I think of Tom Landry, Roger Staubach and the team of the 1970′s. For me, it’s more about what the star represents in history over what we are or are not now.“

As always, we love to hear what you think. Please leave your comments below. Here at TLH, we are trying to build a strong and faithful fan base where everyone’s’ opinions and views are respected. America’s Team is a label that was placed on us by NFL Films when they named our highlight video back in the 70′s. The owners, coaches, and players had nothing to do with it, yet most of America makes a mockery of it and hate us for it. The truth is, since 1970, the Cowboys have sold a lot more merchandise than any other team in the league, they have sold out more road games than any other team, and they lead in top rated tv games for the season every year. The Cowboys have as many, if not more, haters as they do lovers. You either hate them or you love them, but either way, they continue to make headlines with the media.

All of which makes JJ very happy!

That is exactly what I have been saying for years. It is a nick-name that was bestowed to the Cowboys. It cant be taken away or earned by anyone else. Can the Chargers be called the “Steel Curtain” or the Dolphins be called the “Greatest Show on Turf”? NO!!!! Now if you want to say another team is more popular or better or some other 3rd thing, then go ahead. But the Cowboys are America’s Team..

Until they are not selling more merchandise than any other NFL team, have the highest ratings and are not the lead story on ESPN every time they change the menu and toilet paper then yes they will be Americas team.

If they aren’t then why are they the most talked about team still after being eliminated from the playoffs? Love or hate them you can’t stop talking about them .

They are to me. I really don’t care what anyone else thinks.

You can’t change their history, which include Tom Landry, Roger Staubach, Drew Pearson, Randy White, Troy Aikman, and many more. I have been all over this country, and have seen people from all walks of life wearing Dallas Cowboys tshirts, sweatshirts, and jackets. I don’t agree with all that Jerry Jones does, and often think of him as a clown. But I was born in Texas, and grew up in the DFW area. Dallas will always be my team, win or lose, regardless of the coach or owner. That’s the true definition of a faithful fan. I grew up in the 60′s watching the cowboys play, and will never forget their history.
