It’s hard to feel TOO bad for a man who recently signed a contract worth over $100 million and is married to former beauty pageant winner, but poor Tony Romo always seems to end up in no-win situations, and tonight is no different.
Truth be told, a win tonight by the Cowboys might be the worst thing that could happen to Romo, in terms of his legacy and how he’s viewed. Right or wrong, Romo’s reputation for coming up small in December isn’t going anywhere this year and if another quarterback, especially Kyle Orton, is able to win where Romo (and his TEAM) has failed in the past, it only fuels the fire for the Romo Hate Club.
This is in no way to suggest that fans should be rooting against their team, or that Romo himself even cares what the perception of him is, but it’s becoming more and more clear that, no matter what he does, Romo will always be a target and pundits will look for any excuse to take shots at him.
Romo is probably the only quarterback in the entire NFL who could lead a game-winning drive in a virtual must-win game, and still be the butt of “choking” jokes on social media later that same night.
So, in reality, this ending is just about the most Tony Romo thing that has ever happened to Tony Romo. The Cowboys are in a position to exorcise their demons, thanks in large part to Romo, but not only can Romo not do a damn thing about it, he actually loses if they win.
Now, with all of that being said: win it for Tony.
