After nearly two weeks off, the Dallas Cowboys play their division rivals the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon. The Cowboys are coming off a Jerry Jones media-driven drama fest and the Giants are on a hot four-game win streak. If the Cowboys lose, the Giants and Cowboys will be tied for second place in the division.
After having a pretty much unproductive bye week, with the same coaches and staff still in place and more talk out of owner and general manager Jerry Jones’ than Cowboys football action lately, the Cowboys are once again in a “must win” situation. Win this game and hope of a division title are still in the future. Lose this game and with the up-coming schedule, fans can pretty much kiss this season goodbye.
Now most might and probably will disagree that the Giants are on a hot streak winning four in a row against sub par quarterbacks at the helm but none-the-less they have put four straight wins in the win column and that is all that matters. The Cowboys are coming off a demoralizing loss to the New Orleans Saints and two weeks to think about it. Losses like the Cowboys had against the Saints can do two things: It can either wake a team up or it can cost them a season. With the Cowboys it’s no telling which way the wind will blow with that loss.
As stated before the Cowboys need to win this game. In my mind this will set the tone for the remainder of the season. That being said these are the areas that the Cowboys really need to step it up to secure a victory against the Giants.
