NEW YORK GIANTS

RECORD: 3-6

Sep 8, 2013; Arlington, TX, USA; Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten (82) makes a third quarter touchdown catch against New York Giants safety Ryan Mundy (21) at AT

STANDING: Tied for last
TRENDING: Up
ODDS TO WIN DIVISION: +500 ($100 bet would win you $500)
REMAINING SCHEDULE: GB, DAL, at WAS, at SD, SEA, at DET, WAS

HOW THEY COULD WIN THE DIVISION:  The Giants who have the best defense in the division finally get some kind of contribution from their offense.  They continue their winning streak facing Green Bay without Aaron Rodgers and a Dallas team with all kinds of injury and confidence issues.  They take their act on the road and win in D.C. and San Diego to get to 7-6.  They lose to Seattle but stun the Lions in Detroit and win their final home game against Washington to finish 9-7 overall and 4-2 in the division.

WHY THEY WON’T WIN THE DIVISION:  It’s just not their year.  They face the most difficult schedule of the four teams with an opponent winning percentage of .536.  They will likely split with Washington and possibly lose to the Cowboys coming off a bye which would all but bury their hopes right there as that would give them a divisional record of 3-4.  The stretch of games at San Diego, home against Seattle and at Detroit earns them, at best, a 1-2 record which means they finish 3-4 in their final seven overall.

PREDICTION: 7-9, second in the NFC East
