The only reason this isn’t a complete “F” is the draft which brought in Travis Frederick, Terrance Williams and J.J. Wilcox as well as the signing of Brian Waters. Otherwise, the salary cap is a complete train wreck both this year and next. Free agency was a large bust as Will Allen has already been cut, Anthony Spencer played a half game and made $10.6 million and Justin Durant has been a complete non-factor. Lastly, let’s not forget that our glorious owner called losing to the Broncos a “moral victory” and still lives in the past discussing how Deion Sanders could have contained Calvin Johnson. The biggest reason to flush all hope down the toilet is the guy signing the checks.
This would be a lot worse if not for Rod Marinelli and his job coaching up guys who did not have a job into decent contributors along the offensive line. Go ahead and throw in Derek Dooley for his work transforming Dez Bryant into a superstar and Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley into legitimate options. Monte Kiffin and his pass defense has been horrible and that’s being nice. There hasn’t been any noticeable positive change from Bill Callahan to Jason Garrett on the offensive side of the ball as the line still can’t run block. Garrett himself as ”just” a coach also has exhibited no change as here we are, 4-4 and wanting more.
