Is Dallas Cowboys Receiver Dez Bryant Better Than Calvin Johnson?

The Dallas Cowboys are undefeated in their division and currently sit in first place. This is definitely good news for us fans and definitely a sign that things might just be looking up for us for once. Just when it looks like the team might be turning the corner, Dez Bryant seems to have brought us all back down to earth with his latest declaration.

I’m completely kidding. Dez’s recent comments about the great Megatron have caused quite a stir among the sports world, and honestly who knows why. All I know at this point is that I’ll gladly take these quotes over a bar fight or a lawsuit over jewelry any day.

Actually, I’d have to say I’m quite proud of Dez about openly coming out about his talent. And while I might be very biased, I can’t say that I disagree with Dez.

Let’s just look at a couple of points shall we.

I know for a fact that Calvin Johnson obtaining the nickname Megatron was no mistake. Nobody can doubt that Johnson is without a doubt a playmaker, but I think Dez at the very least can hold his own against the Megatron.

I’d definitely take Johnson’s size over that of Dez’s, although Dez himself is quite a large human being. Johnson’s 40-time is also nothing to scoff at while being superior to Bryant’s as well.

Here’s where I think Bryant might be somewhat inspired in his comments. There is no mistaking Dez’s emergence in the past couple of seasons. He has come on like wildfire and has quickly found himself being considered one of the best in the league.

While Bryant shares a field with the likes of Jason Witten, and Terrance Williams, and Miles Austin. Megatron on the other hand has to share passes with guys like Brandon Pettigrew and Nate Burleson. While those guys are reliable, established receivers, I don’t know that they are of the level of a Witten or Austin.

Let’s not forget that Bryant is making it a priority to prove all of us naysayers wrong. He has stayed clean as of late, so he might just take this opportunity against the Lions to prove to us once again that he can backup what he says.

Regardless of whether or not he can hold his own against Megatron I don’t think anybody will waver in the fact that this might be one of the best receiver matchups in the league.

May the best man win.
