  • SPEED: Speed is important for any player to have in football, especially at the receiver position. If you can’t outrun the defense, you’re going to have a long day. Speed is the name of the game in today’s NFL and any player with it gives you an advantage.

Dez has sensational speed if you watch him play, leading you to believe he might be field fast and not track fast. When you see him return punts, he can turn on another motor and can make some amazing moves down field. But, he can be caught by most defensive backs, as evident by in the Denver game when he was tackled before he got to the end zone. He only ran a 4.52 at the NFL combine.

Calvin Johnson Jr. aka “Megatron” was given this nick name for the fact that this man is a freak of nature and can do everything like a robot. His speed is no question in his game. Looking at any highlight tape of Calvin Johnson, you love to see him use his long legs to outrun any opponent. He can get downfield in a hurry and no one seems to be able to cover him. It’s a main reason you see many defenses pushing their men way back in order to “try” to cover him. He also ran a 4.36 at the combine, which makes him much faster than Dez.

Advantage: Megatron!
