10. Overall, Trades are Few And Far Between

Oct 13, 2013; Arlington, TX, USA; Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin (19) cannot catch a pass against Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall (23) in the fourth quarter at AT

Since March, there have been a total of 25 trades in the NFL. A majority of those were done in the off-season. In-season trades are a rarity. Since September 5th, there have been just four trades.

Teams are more hesitant than ever to make trades. With cap restrictions, free agency and increased roster sizes, there simply aren’t as many good enough reasons to do so anymore. Plus, most front offices are just too scared to “pull the trigger”. One bad trade could end your career.

I agree with most all of your points. The one i don’t is about JJ holding on to players too long, since JG took over, the Cowboys are dumping underperforming vets left and right. Throwing in the jab about him keeping JG afterthe 8-8 seasons is nonsense. You dont swap out coaches every other year, something Jones is finally figuring out. Jason has a plan in place and it would be stupid for Jerry to even consider a coaching change, until Garrett has a chance to undo the years of personel mistakes the Cowboys have made.

Valid points Steve. He is a good insurance policy for this year. Has to take a huge pay cut next year. Let’s not forget that he drops a lot of balls and is not good at positioning himself to catch the ball. He put himself in good position early in his career. Now he lets the ball come to him instead of going after the ball. For example, the end zone non catch versus Redskins a week ago. Instead of waiting on the ball, he should have slowed up and jumped. Then he either catches it or its interference. Anyway, one can’t fault the fans for wishing or believing in Santa Claus.
