Which Retired Cowboys Player Could Help This Team?

If you could sign any retired Cowboys player in their prime and plug him in, who would you take?

Roger Staubach?

Tony Dorsett?

Ed “Too Tall” Jones?

How about Deion Sanders?

With the Dallas Cowboys just coming out of a heavyweight fight, the team is already preparing for the next big battle. This fight will be under the Sunday night lights with America watching as the Cowboys renew their rivalry with the Washington Redskins.

With that in mind, which retired player could the team most benefit from going into week 6?

Though my favorite player of all-time is Michael Irvin, the new 88 is holding his own just fine. Right now, the Cowboys are missing an identity. A signature. A soul.

If there is one person who could pull this team out of mediocrity it is Emmitt Smith. He was the soul of “The Triplets.” The glue. A leader.

Though current running back DeMarco Murray ranks 4th in rushing (22 yards behind Adrian Peterson who ranks 2nd), the Cowboys rushing attack needs consistency. The up and down performance has forced Bill Callahan to put the ball elsewhere — even with a lead.

Emmitt Smith would bring power, confidence, and consistency to the running game. Who wouldn’t benefit from the NFL’s all-time leading rusher?

Here’s to Emmitt Smith making a come back.
