TV Expert Picks: Who Got It Right For The Cowboys?

Each week we’ll take a look at Cowboy predictions from the TV genius class, and grade those expert predictions against what actually happened. I’ve compiled the picks from the ESPN, NFL Network, FOX, FOX Sports 1, and CBS pregame shows, along with the NBC show since the Cowboys were the primetime game last night.

Are these guys truly “experts?” You decide:

Aug 29, 2013; Arlington, TX, USA; Dallas Cowboys defensive DeMarcus Ware (94) on the sidelines during the second half against the Houston Texans at AT

Grading Scale:
A – Picked the winner, and told us how and why.
B – Picked the winner, and was more right than wrong in the analysis.
C – Picked the winner and offered no commentary
D – Picked the winner, but was dead wrong in the analysis; picked wrong, but offered valid insights.
F – Picked wrong, and either didn’t tell us why or booted the analysis.

Here’s what actually happened Sunday night:
The Cowboys won 36-31 on the strength of six New York turnovers and two second half scores from the Dallas defense. The star of the show was Monte Kiffin’s 4-3 defense.

So how many experts saw that coming?

NBC’s Sunday Night Football
Tony Dungy
Pick: New York
- “Eli plays well in this stadium…”
Grade: F
Eli found a rhythm in the fourth quarter, but struggled all night up to that point.
Season Record: 0-1

Rodney Harrison
Pick: Dallas
- “I’m going with my boy, Tony Romo.”
Grade: C
Always a good bet, Rodney…
Season Record: 1-0

Man, I hope this tally keeps going. I hate that these talking heads blabber on and never get called on it. Not that there will be any repercussions from this. Still fun to know.

Yeah, it’ll be interesting to see how they grade out if it continues the whole season.
