The Dallas Cowboys will face off against the New York Giants on Sunday night. It will be the first official home-opener in the newly christened AT&T Stadium. And Cowboys fans hope the new moniker will aid them in overcoming the Giants four game winning streak in Arlington. The Landry Hat went behind enemy lines this week to talk to fellow FanSided editor Joe Tufaro of GMenHQ.com to get some insider information about the Giants.
TLH – Is there a sleeper player on the Giants Roster that you believe is poised to have a breakout 2013?
GMenHQ - Well now there are two…Damontre Moore and we hope DaRel Scott. Moore, as your fans know, was a beast at Texas A&M and certainly has the physical abilities to be a successful defensive end in the NFL. At 6’5″ 250 he might be a little light at the moment, but that will change over time. He seems to be a good student and certainly can understand rushing the passer in his rookie season if nothing else. WIth the loss of Andre Brown DaRel Scott gets the chance he has been waiting for, and luckily for him it comes when he is completely healthy for the first time in three years.
TLH - It seems that injuries have decimated the Giants on both sides of the ball. What’s your biggest area of concern?
GMenHQ - Biggest concern is at running back. This is a two back league and this goes to your next question as well, David Wilson is the home run hitter, and he can run with power, but no back is an every down back anymore in this league. Again, Hopefully Da’Rel or someone else can fill that void.
TLH - How much confidence do you have in David Wilson? Is he an every-down back?
GMenHQ - Confidence in Wilson is high, the media gave him a bad wrap when he fumbled against the Cowboys on opening night….his only fumble of the entire season! He has break away speed, can catch the ball out of the backfield, understands the importance of blocking for Eli as a priority, and can run with some power also.
TLH - Haven’t heard a lot of about Eli Manning. He seems to be the one constant on the team. Any updates on him?
GMenHQ - He had a mediocre pre-season, but Easy E is usually not the problem with this team. His throws aren’t as pretty as some, but he seems to get the job done, confirmed by the two new Lombardi’s in the trophy case.
TLH - Jason Pierre-Paul’s play seems to have leveled off a bit after an outstanding season a couple years ago. Why?
GMenHQ - JPP has had back issues since college. He has played through some injuries, especially last year. Again, hopefully he has recovered form his back surgery and can get back to where he was two years ago and continue to improve from there.
TLH - Your game prediction?
GMenHQ - I don’t usually do predictions, so let’s just say another high scoring but close Giants Cowboys affair.
