CONNECTIONS

Gary Brown, Dallas’ runningbacks coach, played for Kevin Gilbride on two separate occasions: once in Houston (’91-’94) when Gilbride coordinated the Oilers offense, and once in San Diego (1997) when Gilbride served as head coach. Brown also played for the Giants from 1998-99.

Giants defensive line coach Robert Nunn coached in the same capacity in Green Bay form 2005-08 alongside wide receivers coach Jimmy Robinson.

Nunn also has ties to Cowboys special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia, as both served in their respective positions in Tampa Bay together from 2009-10.

Giants linebackers coach Jim Hermann and Cowboys secondary coach Jerome Henderson both coached together in their respective capacities with the New York Jets from 2007-08. Both coached with Cowboys offensive coordinator Bill Callahan for the 2008 season with the Jets.

Not only was Giants strength and conditioning coach Markus Paul a player under Cowboys strength and conditioning coach Mike Woicik at Syracuse from 1984-88, but the two ended up working together in New Orleans (’98-’99) and New England (’00-’04).

Giants tight ends coach Mike Pope served in the same capacity under Bill Parcells in New England from 1994-96. On the 1996 team, future Cowboys secondary coach Jerome Henderson played defensive back.

Pope is also connected to Jason Garrett and Cowboys offensive consultant Jimmy Robinson. Pope began his second Giants stint in 2000 when Garrett was the backup quarterback from 2000-03 and Robinson the wide receivers coach from 1998-03.

Giants offensive line coach Pat Flaherty was an offensive assistant at Penn State from 1982-93. From 1987-90, future Cowboys runningbacks coach Gary Brown played runningback for the Nittany Lions.

Giants assistant offensive line coach Lunda Wells was an offensive assistant at LSU from 2008-11, which coincides with the collegiate careers of LSU alumni Danny McCray and Morris Claiborne.

Cowboys assistant secondary coach Joe Baker coached under Tom Coughlin in Jacksonville from 1995-98. Giants runningbacks coach Jerald Ingram served in the same capacity there as well from 1995-02. Baker is also connected to Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride, who was with the Jaguars from 1995-96, and with Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell, who was the secondary coach from 1998-02.

Perry Fewell is also connected to Cowboys quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson. In 2005 on Lovie Smith’s Bears, Wilson coached quarterbacks as Fewell coached the secondary.

Giants special teams assistant Larry Izzo has two connections on the Dallas Cowboys staff. The first is with Cowboys director of pro personnel Judd Garrett. In 2000, as Judd Garrett was an offensive assistant, Izzo played linebacker for the Miami Dolphins.

Izzo’s second connection is to strength and conditioning coach Tom Woicik. Izzo played for the New England Patriots from 2001-08, as Woicik served in the same position from 2000-10.

Giants general manager Jerry Reese’s tenure as a pro scout from 1997-04 encompassed the stints of Cowboys runningbacks coach Gary Brown as runningback (1998-99), Jason Garrett’s as backup quarterback (2000-03), and Jimmy Robinson’s as wide receivers coach (1998-03).
