6 Offensive Turnovers Won't Win Football Games

The Cowboys fell to the Cardinals 7-12 Saturday night in Glendale, AZ. I hate to be the one to state the (painfully) obvious but six offensive turnovers (five happening in the first half) won’t win you a football game. I wonder if someone let our ‘Boys in on that secret before they took on the Cardinals. That being said, I am confident Jason Garrett and the rest of the coaching staff is going to be all over that topic this week. While some (ahem, haters) are already brushing them off saying “same old Cowboys” I am not buying into it. I am not happy about Saturday’s performance on offense but I am confident our coaching staff and our team is doing what they need to do to turn it around. While I would prefer for games like this to not happen at all, I would rather they occur during the pre-season. It allows the ‘Boys to work out the kinks and meet the regular season head-on and honed-in.

On a more positive note, our defense is building momentum week by week. I can’t be more impressed.

DeVonte Holloman is officially on my one-to-watch list. He is proving himself in a big way and on Saturday had his second interception of the pre-season. The first if you don’t remember was his pick-6, 75 yard return in the Hall of Fame Game. Glorious. His second came with under a minute left in the first half against Arizona. Drew Stanton’s pass intended for RB Stepfan Taylor was intercepted by a diving Holloman… Great for the ‘Boys!!! DOH! Bad for my former Sparty… Sorry, (i.e. not sorry) for showing love for the Big Ten. I digress. Holloman also added 4 tackles and an ohhh-so-close sack & fumble, which ended up being ruled as a solid hit on a wide-open Stanton.

You better believe I will have my eye on Holloman in the next pre-season game! The Cowboys are matching up to the Bengals in Dallas on the 24th! Until then…

Cheers, Dez
