Dallas Cowboys Week 3 Pre Season Tilt

Even though this is the 3rd pre season game for the Cowboys, it is effectively their 2nd one. In the Hall of Fame game the stars didn’t even break a sweat unless it was hot on the sidelines in Fawcett Stadium. That means I will get to see very little of the players I base so much of my hopes in 2013 upon and instead I will see a lot of football by a lot of scrubs. That is fine with me. Any time I can see the Cowboys play live is a privilege for me.

This game I have some things to be looking for. One of the things I look forward to the most is the matchup of Dez Bryant versus Patrick Peterson. In 2011 they faced off and on the sidelines Patrick Peterson bragged that Dez only knew 3 routes and he could stick with him all day. Fast forward to 2013 and Dez has added every club he can fit into his golf bag and he is going to come out swinging. I personally have sent him a pair of notes on Twitter to remind him of what Patrick said. Throw up that X Factor Dez. A reporter noted that Dez has not dropped a pass yet in any practice and asked him if he planned to catch everything. Dez simply said, “Yes sir, that is the goal.” Helluva goal.

Peterson is also one of the most dangerous punt returners in the game. This could be one of the biggest challenges for Rich Bisaccia’s coverage teams to face. One mistake and Peterson can be gone. A good coach can use that to sharpen the coverage for the whole year. Of course I would prefer not to ever punt to Peterson, but in pre-season I would always make them work so they can be evaluated. It doesn’t count, so get the work in. Of course I’d prefer to never punt at all.

I have enjoyed watching Ron Leary stake his claim to the Left Guard job. He would have had his work cut out for him today because he would have been going to face a guy with a non stop motor in Darnell Dockett. This would have been one of the biggest challenges he could possibly face this pre season to try and earn that job. Oh, and for the record, I do believe Brian Waters is going to sign as has been speculated. And while losing Leary right now as he was starting to come into his own is temporary and a setback, we have still greatly improved the Offensive Line so far.

Ditto, Georgia and the Falcons. Especially when I was a kid and the NFL Ticket did not exist.

The nfl television scheduling rules are dictated by the NFL, not the local program directors.

Just when I think you can’t get any more pathetic with your shit writing style, you come back the following week and prove me wrong. You are the one writer who makes me long for Mickey Spagnola. You think you’re proving to the reader what a great fan you are, when you are actually proving what a moron you are.
