Safety J.J. Wilcox – As arguably the most impressive rookie in camp so far, this year’s fourth round pick has now become a vital part of Dallas’s defensive scheme. Unfortunately, Wilcox had a lackluster showing last weekend. One thing the rookie safety can do is hit. The problem is, Wilcox doesn’t always know where to be in Monte Kiffin’s scheme. During the Hall of Fame game, second year safety Matt Johnson had to help instruct the rookie on the field. When Johnson went out due to an ankle injury in the second quarter, Wilcox was sometimes lost. The rookie will need to step up his mental game if he is really going to contribute anything this year, outside of special teams. I’ll be anxiously watching if Wilcox can make that transition from the practice field to real games.
