Dez The Destructor

This season somehow managed to creep up pretty fast.  So fast, I almost missed my last opportunity to predict what an amazing breakout year Bryant will have this season, before just being another guy on the bandwagon.

If you’ve paid any attention to the news coming out of training camp (and if you’re reading this, I assume you have), Bryant’s work so far has been absolutely inconceivable.  This could be due in part to Dooley, the Cowboy’s new receiver’s coach.  Bryant has had very positive things to say about Dooley, describing him as being much more hands on, which is something they all love.  “He’s a great coach and he makes things a lot smoother and easier for us”, Bryant has said.

Remember, Dez Bryant has consistently beaten Michael Irvin and Drew Pearson’s season stats thus far.  Despite this, there are many (including myself) that believe he has barely scratched the surface of what he is ultimately capable of.

This makes the beginning of every season a very exciting time for Bryant fans, and in turn, Cowboy’s fans in general.

Dez Bryant possesses all the skills necessary to be a hall of fame receiver.  His strength, speed, and determination are unstoppable.  Now if he only had an appropriate nickname to go along with the freakish athleticism.

I like “The Destructor”.  Now granted, it doesn’t conjure up images of little toys and cartoons like such a nickname as megatron.  I remember stepping on a megatron toy several times as a child, it was actually fairly comfortable.  It certainly was not like stepping on a lego piece, which would bring a grown man to his knees.  I maintain that “lego” is probably a more intimidating nickname than megatron.

Enough about other athlete’s ill-chosen nicknames, let’s take a look at the word “destruct” itself.

de•struct
verb-  to destroy
noun- The deliberate causing of terminal damage

I think “The Destructor” fits Bryant pretty well.

Dez Bryant, the Destructor of defenses, the Destructor of secondaries, and the Destructor of NFL records…yeah, that’s about right.

All hail The Deztructor.
