The Bottom of the Barrel

The quarterbacks at this stage of the list have struggled to produce at this point in their NFL. Some have just been drafted to poor situations to succeed, while others have just not flourished in their most recent go around.

32. Blaine Gabbert - Jax -
As of now Gabbert is listed as the starter in Jacksonville. It will be an intense battle in Jaguars camp between him and Chad Henne. Neither player is overly impressive, but in fairness to both the surrounding talent has either been injured or just plain dreadful. Gabbert’s lack of arm strength and poor decision making have lead to his busting out at the NFL level to this point in his career.

31. Brandon Weeden - Cle -
Weeden’s ranking on this list is not entirely his fault. The browns skill players are atrocious and they have not done much to fix that in the offseason. Despite being only a second year player, Weeden is older than Aaron Rodgers, which does not help his cause for being considered a long term answer in Cleveland.

30. Matt Flynn - Oak -
Flynn shined as a back up to Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay and was rewarded with a huge contract from Seattle prior to the 2012 NFL Draft. Flynn was not able to beat out a 3rd Round pick for the starting job in Seattle and spent the year floundering as the back up to Russell Wilson. Now the Raiders made a trade with Seattle to acquire Flynn and we will see if he can become the starter for the 2013 season. Until we see Flynn play for an extended period of time a proper assessment of his skills cannot be formed.

29. Jake LockerTen -
Locker has yet to play a full season without being injured and his play on the field has been mediocre at best. We need to see a full season from Locker and a season where his top target is not suspended (both are unlikely scenarios at this point).

28. Christian Ponder - Min -
Yes, Minnesota made the playoffs, but that was on the back of their All-World, MVP running back. Minnesota had just one weapon in the passing game in TE Kyle Rudolph. They have made significant upgrades with the acquisitions of Greg Jennings and First Round pick Cordarrelle Patterson. How Ponder uses these weapons this season will tell us if he is the real deal or a dud.

27. Kevin Kolb - Buf -
As of now Kolb is the listed starter in Buffalo. Expect that to change real quick if First Round pick EJ Manuel performs like the Bills brass thought he would when they drafted him at number 17 overall. Kolb had two amazing games in Philadelphia, but was never healthy enough in Arizona to show his true potential.
