I am going to just go ahead and warn you before you read any further… This isn’t your typical post that you would see on The Landry Hat… Then again, I am pretty sure Mr. Editor-in-Chief didn’t bring me on staff to give you typical. You aren’t going to get stats and statistics today my friends. Nor will you be getting my opinions on who should be where on the depth chart. Today I am going to introduce you to The Illustrious Cowboys Cup. It’s become a bit of a talking point in my world and it is now time to bring the stories to you.
The Cowboys Cup, as it’s known, is one of those amazing Tervis tumblers. It has the Cowboys Star on the front the size of, well… Texas. “Cowboys” in big navy letters along the bottom and “Dallas” in big silver-blue metallic down the back. Twenty-four ounces of your favorite bevy enveloped in glorious shades of navy, silver-blue metallic and white.
I bought it at a certain specialty store up here in The Mitten (If you don’t know where “The Mitten” is, hold up your right hand, palm facing you… Now give yourself a good solid facepalm… Ha! Kidding… Sort of. The Mitten is Michigan, my friends. The only state in ‘Merica shaped like, yep, you guessed it, a mitten. I digress.) I was moseying around the store wasting time when I saw The Cup sitting on the shelf. The lights of heaven shone down and I knew, in that instant, I needed it! (Maybe the heavenly glow was a slight exaggeration, but it makes for a nice touch.)
We don’t have a lot of Cowboys gear in the stores up here so my find was few and far between. As I brought my prize to the register I knew I had something special. Since the day I bought it, I have carried The Cup with me everywhere. It doesn’t help that I’m one of those chicks that likes to drink half her weight in ounces of water each day, so I am rarely without it. I carry this cup with me like a badge of honor… Letting those who see it know where my NFL allegiance lies.
The conversations The Cup has sparked in the most random of places are kind of incredible and nothing short of entertaining. In the coming weeks, grab your favorite bevy and join me for Tales of the Illustrious Cowboys Cup!
