If Tony Romo Produces, The Dallas Cowboys May Contend

Last year Anthony Spencer lived up to his hype. If he does it again this year, in an aggressive scheme with a healthy Ware opposite him expect more good games than bad by this Defense by a large margin. We’re not going to give up 400 points this season. I don’t have any idea how much improved we will be over that, but I’ll guess right now it will be at least 100 points better. That’s right, I believe we’re going to hold teams under 300 points allowed on the season.

If Marinelli can get turnovers from this team like he did in Chicago last year I will predict we’re not just a contender, but a favorite. If, and it is still an if at this point, Tony Romo has time to make teams pay and we can rush the football the right way.

A lot has been made in the last few about if the Cowboys are a declining team. It was spurred by a comment from Evan Silva on Yahoo. Consider this for just a minute. The Cowboys have 16 of their 22 starters who are home grown talent. By that I do not mean from the Dallas – Ft. Worth area. I mean originally and only with this team. There are 8 starters on Offense and 8 on Defense who are either Dallas draft picks or Undrafted Free Agents. That is counting only 1 rookie, Travis Frederick. Dallas has plenty of home grown talent playing key roles besides starting. Here’s the icing on the cake. Only 2 of these starters have more than 10 years in the NFL. They are Tony Romo and Jason Witten, and Romo wasn’t active for 3 and half seasons.

Dallas has no starter on the obvious downhill slide, and has several young lions like Dez, Lee, and Carter who are on the cusp of being elite at their positions. They would join the likes of Ware, Witten, and yes, Tony Romo as elite level players for their NFL positions. That isn’t even mentioning Tyron Smith or Morris Claiborne. It isn’t even mentioning Murray, Randle, Frederick, Williams, Escobar, or a host of other young, talented players who are hungry to erase the bad taste of the last 2 years. There is no way we’re going to sustain injuries like last year again. The schedule couldn’t be lined up any better. Yes, I expect a run at contending, at being a real contender.

Funny article that says the rushing game was below par with the Cowboys still in the thick of things and then states if Romo produces the Cowboys may be contenders. Apparently Romo produced a hell of a lot the last two years for the Cowboys to be in the thick of things. Maybe the statement should have been…”if Romo produces like he did the last two years the Cowboys may be contenders”. The way it is stated suggests Romo did not produce the last two years.

What In Hell Do You Mean IF He Produces?! He HAS PRODUCED!! Is It HIS Fault That The Rest Of The Team Just Didn’t Step Up? He Is Only ONE MAN,In Case You Have Forgotten,And It Is a TEAM Sport! You really Need To Think Twice Before Coming Up With These STUPID Headlines!!!
