You can argue both. But I say Steven Jackson. At the time we had a better offensive line and we had better offensive weapons. We also had a defense as well. If we have Steven Jackson in 2007, there is no way we lose to the Giants in the playoffs, or the Patriots in the Super bowl.

i say moss, jackson has done nothing in the NFL. he’s an ok back. several other teams passed on him as well, why does dallas always get labeled as the team that was supposed to draft or should have drafted this or that guy.
moss they should have taken, period!

    • Ronald W. Jones

During that time period the Cowboys were under tough public scruntiny because of a huge teamwide lack of player disipline. The “white house’ incident….and Micheal Irvin’s problems to name just a couple. Drafting Moss would have been percieved by the public as team management not caring about these dilemmas…so therefore Jerrah Jones passed on Randy Moss.

Jackson turned out to be the best back in that particular draft and Dallas really needed a RB–Jackson or Julius Jones? I’ll take Jackson every time

Receiving hasn’t been a particular problem but we haven’t really had a running game since Emmitt left.

Randy Moss ended up being a pain in the ass everywhere he played And he would have been one with us too. I don’t know why Parcells passed on Jackson and took Julius Jones instead, with the way Tuna loved to run the ball between the tackles…..I agree, the 2007 team would have gone farther in the play-offs with Jackson in the backfield

Stephen Jackson, if we drafted him I’m sure we’d have a won 1 or 2 more superbowls by now, we haven’t had a running game since Emmitt Smith

There were legitimate concerns about Moss’s personality that stopped the Cowboys and a bunch of other teams from picking him. Why we passed on Stephen Jackson I still don’t think I know. When Jackson was still available for the Cowboys to pick the local talking heads (Norm and Co.) were ecstatic about us possibly getting Jackson as was I—but nope we moved down in the draft to eventually pick up fragile Julius Jones (maybe Jerry Jones liked his initials). I followed Jackson’s career closely for a few seasons to see what we missed–and it would become obvious to everyone–WE MIISSED A LOT. If I am remembering correctly Jackson thought Dallas was going to pick him and when they didn’t he develped a chip on his shoulder towards Dallas just like Moss did.
