Next come the Bengals with 45 years of History. They are 305-385-2 in that span. For the Cowboys after year 45 they were 383-285-6. That is 78 games ahead of the Bengals pace in 18 fewer games. If you add the Cowboys next 18 games they were 10-8. Thus putting them 88 games ahead of the Bengals pace.
The Saints are a juggernaut now, but they were a forever doormat. It’s almost unfair to look at them in comparison, but that is this exercise after all. The Saints are 306-395-5 after 46 seasons. The Cowboys after 46 seasons were 392-292-6. That is 86 games ahead of their pace in 16 fewer games. Add the next 16 games for the Cowboys and it add 9 more wins for 401, 95 games ahead of the Saints pace.
The Falcons are another team with a woeful record. After 47 seasons they are 312-402-6. The Cowboys after 47 seasons were 401-299-6. That is an 89 game lead in 14 fewer games. Add the next 14 games for the Cowboys and you will add 12 more wins for a 101 game advantage at the same pace of games played.
The Dolphins will be a fair matchup since they’ve had a decent History. After 47 seasons the Dolphins were at 407-309-4. That represents a 6 game advantage over the Cowboys but in 14 more games played. As above the Cowboys would add 12 more wins in their next 14 games for a 6 games lead in the head to head pace. This represents the closest pace so far, but will it be the closest? Will any of the other 31 teams actually out pace the Cowboys? We move on now to the teams who have been in the NFL longer than the Cowboys.
Let’s begin with the newest team of that 12 team group, the Colts. Dallas now has 53 seasons in the ledgers and a career record of 448-340-6 as stated earlier in the comparison to the 1960’s born AFL teams. After 53 seasons the Colts record was 390-377-7. The Cowboys total games played is 794 games. The Colts total games played after 53 seasons was 774 games, meaning we owe the Colts their next 20 games. In those games they were 16-4 bringing their record on an equal pace to 406-381-7. This is 42 games behind the Cowboys pace.
