When Romo isn’t available, the next best person to answer Romo questions is best friend and tight end Jason Witten. At the Cowboys Home Run Derby, he gave his thoughts on Romo’s involvement in the game plan.
“Tony has always been involved in the game plan,” Witten said after not making it past the first round. “When you got that kind of contract, that’s what you want.”
Romo’s critics have pointed to numerous items from botched snaps to backwards hats to underpin their claims that #9 doesn’t care. Witten couldn’t disagree more.
“Nobody has more invested in this team in what we’re doing offensively than Tony,” Witten defended his quarterback. “And I think he understands where we need to be and where we’re going. I think that’s great.”
