There’s another week down in the long offseason process and nothing much has changed. Besides the never ending debate of Tony Romo’s future as a Dallas Cowboy the only thing we can talk about is pure speculation.
Will the Cowboys be able to re-sign Anthony Spencer? Will Henry Melton become a Dallas Cowboy? Will Jerry Jones sign another wide receiver? Who will be calling the plays come game time? These are just a few of the questions that require an answer during the offseason.
Another debate going on right now is who will be the Cowboys first round pick at 18 in this year’s NFL draft. Contrary to popular belief, the Cowboys have many more holes to fill than just the offensive line. So with that in mind who will it be?
With the offensive line in mind could it be Barrett Jones, Chance Warmack, or D.J. Fluker from the Crimson Tide? Might it be some of the stud defensive lineman that are eligible such as Dion Jordan from Oregon or Alex Okafor from Texas. Let’s not forget the boys down in Florida whether it be Sharrif Floyd the Gator defensive tackle or even Bjoern Werner from Florida State. This might be reaching but seeing as how Werner is German born perhaps he can be for the Cowboys what Dirk Nowitzki has been for the Dallas Mavericks.
Maybe the Cowboys even try to fill the void left by Darren Woodson many years ago by drafting a hard hitting safety. Perhaps Kenny Vaccaro will be the guy getting his name called at pick 18.
In any case the speculation of the draft is sometimes the best part of it. Until the day comes and we are actually on the clock we can only continue to swap opinions and wonder who will be donning the star on their helmet. Until then let the guessing game continue.
With all of that in mind who do you think the Cowboys will draft with pick 18 in the 2013 NFL Draft?
