2013 NFL Mock Draft: Kiper Says Cowboys Select…

I know what you’re saying Cowboy fans: “Here we go again. Another random mock draft pick for the Dallas Cowboys first round pick.” Well, not quite. Whenever ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. releases a mock draft, it’s an event and particularly newsworthy. Kiper’s latest mock was released on Thursday. Let’s see who he thinks Dallas will go with in the first round.

With the 18th pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select…

Chance Warmack, Offensive Guard, Alabama.

Here’s what our experts say about Warmack:

Staff writer Reid Hanson believes Warmack will be gone by pick number 10 to the Tennessee Titans:

The Titans have major needs in the secondary but ultimately their need for a superior run game will trump all. They have long valued OG’s more than most teams and will have no problem selecting Chance and plugging him into the lineup immediately.

Staff writer Mike Burke would love this pick:

Center Barrett Jones of the Alabama Crimson Tide is probably my number one draft hope of 2013. If his linemate Chance Warmack fell to us though I’d do cartwheels down the street to add him.

Staff writer Chris Dietz sees Warmack going at #7 to the Arizona Cardinals:

Warmack is the best lineman from the best offensive line not only this season but in the history of college football. He is a large body and moves very well for his massive size. He is the perfect guy to build the new Cardinals offensive line around and will be a foundation for the offense for years to come.

Senior writer Jeff Magnia thinks the Cowboys will actually pass on Warmack and he’ll fall to the Chicago Bears at #20:

Warmack is probably the best interior lineman in the draft.  He might go higher than this pick but I also see that Chicago might even trade up to get him.  Protecting Jay Cutler is going to be the need for the incoming head coach, so expect something to happen between Warmack and the Bears.

I would really like for this to happen. I could see this happening just by the fact Decastro fell last year, but also last year had better QBs so I could also see him getting picked over them instead. It will probably come down to where two of the QBs go.

This is such a weak QB class I doubt they will make it into the top 10. I heard Wommack is like Ben Grubb. Last year Ben Grubb actually hurt the NO Saints in the run Game, no thanks. I rather have the brawler at the OL, Grubb is the athlete like Tyron and Doug Free. I rather have a trade down to pick up some more pick to as low as 33 rd pick. If we trade down to this pick we can get a high 3, two high 5 rd picks and top pick in rd number 2. My pick at 33 would be Barrett Jones, who won the awards at all three position OT, OG and Center. That means he beat out Wommack at his position when he was playing OG. Jones will miss most of the training camp this year that why he drops. DL selection in the first is not an option, they DL is over hyped and only make Pro Bowl status 17 percent of the time

Can we have pet cats before the draft? If we can, this is mine.
