2013 NFC Pro Bowl Team Announced: Two Cowboys Selected, Dez Snubbed

The NFL announced the NFC Pro Bowl selection for this season and a surprising name was left off that list…Dallas Cowboys’ wideout Dez Bryant. Bryant is having a career year in just his third season recording 88 receptions, 1,311 yards and 12 touchdowns with one game to go. One knock against the young receiver has been his various off-the-field issues.

Veteran linebacker DeMarcus Ware received his seventh straight nomination. Ware has amassed 55 tackles, 5 forced fumbles and 11.5 sacks on the season.

The only other selection from the Cowboys was tight end Jason Witten. Witten broke the NFL record for receptions by a tight end this season with 103 catches. This is the ten year veteran’s eighth Pro Bowl selection. More surprising is the fact that Witten accomplished this after starting the season recovering from a lacerated spleen, which he suffered in the first game of the pre-season.

Last season, only Ware and defensive tackle Jay Ratliff were named to the Pro Bowl.

The Pro Bowl game will be played on January 27, 2013 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
