Rivalry Renewed: Cowboys vs Steelers

The last time the Cowboys played the Pittsburgh Steelers, the wind and Troy Polamalu got the best of the Dallas Cowboys in a devastating loss that all but eliminated the Cowboys playoff chances.

This year, the tables are different. The Steelers are struggling with injuries and poor performance, while the Cowboys are riding an unbelievable win streak.

Cowboys fans will be the deciding factor in this game. The “Terrible Towels” will be flying at Cowboys Stadium on Sunday, and I will be there to see them. These Dallas Cowboys have been so ravaged with injuries on both sides of the ball, it’s a wonder they are still in the playoff hunt.

Jason Garrett’s message seems to be catching on, and who is to say if the Cowboys hadn’t lost four defensive starters to Injured Reserve, this team could by fighting not only for a playoff spot, but home field advantage.

To win this game, the Cowboys are going to have to play mistake free football. I also believe they will have to play Doug-Free football by starting swing tackle Jeremy Parnell. Free could be the next cap/poor performance casualty like Andre Gurode, Flozell Adams, Leonard Davis, and Marc Columbo.

The big injury headlines will be Big Ben’s throwing shoulder and Dez Bryant’s fractured finger. Ben is expected to play, and Dez himself will have the deciding decision whether to play or not.

On an editorial note, I have been bad luck for the Cowboys – so don’t expect the Cowboys to win this game. I went to the Cowboys vs Eagles game where Jessica Simpson reared her head (Cowboys lost on a Brian Westbrook kneel-down). I was the regular season inaugural game at Cowboys Stadium against the Giants (Cowboys lost). And last year I attended the Detroit Lions game – where I witnessed first hand the epic meltdown of a 24 point lead.

Sorry Cowboys fans – this might not be our week if history repeats itself.
