ANDY REID FACTS

In the Andy Reid era, when the Dallas Cowboys have won the opening match against the Eagles, they have completed the series sweep 2/5 times (’05 and ’09). Similarly, when the Eagles have given up the first game against the Giants and Redskins, those franchises have completed the sweep 4/7 and 2/6 times respectively.

This is the seventh time in the Andy Reid era that the Cowboys have closed out the Eagles series at home. The Cowboys are 3-5 (including ’09 playoffs).

Andy Reid has not won a playoff game since the 2008 NFC Divisional against New York. Since that time, Wade Phillips, Rex Ryan, Brad Childress, Gary Kubiak, Mike McCarthy, Jim Harbaugh, and Pete Carroll have all won playoff games.

Andy Reid was part of Mike Holmgren’s Green Bay Packers teams that the Cowboys easily dispatched in the ’93-’95 NFC Playoffs. Here’s how Reid’s record against the Cowboys fares with other staff members who later became head coaches:

Marty Mornhinweg: 2-0
Jon Gruden: 1-2
Steve Mariucci: 3-4
Andy Reid: 17-10

JASON GARRETT FACTS

The only division foe Jason Garrett has swept so far is the Washington Redskins. In completing series sweeps, Jason Garrett is 1/2 (’11 Redskins and ’12 Giants).

The Dallas Cowboys are 4-1 in overtime under Jason Garrett. Andy Reid, after going 2-3 in overtime in his first three seasons, is now 3-8-1.

This is Jason Garrett’s 15th division game. Tom Landry’s 15th division game was against the Philadelphia Eagles, as was Chan Gailey’s. Barry Switzer, Dave Campo, and Bill Parcells each faced the Giants. Jimmy Johnson and Wade Phillips are stand alones facing the Cardinals and the Redskins respectively.

NICK FOLES FACTS

Nick Foles is the first Eagles rookie quarterback to start at Dallas since Donovan McNabb on 12/12/99.

The last quarterback the Eagles took in the 3rd round was Ohio State’s Bobby Hoying in 1996.

Nick Foles is a third round quarterback from Arizona. The Cowboys’ last third round quarterback was Danny White from Arizona State in 1974.

Nick Foles is only the third Arizona quarterback ever taken in the NFL draft since 1960. Buffalo took Brian Linstrom in 1972, and Seattle took John Conner in 1985.

Nick Foles has a better quarterback rating as a starter (55.8) than Troy Aikman did through his first two starts (52.4).

Nick Foles (Austin Westlake) will be the fifth Texas High School quarterback to play as an opponent in Cowboys Stadium. The Cowboys are 0-4:

2010
Vince Young (Houston Madison)
Drew Brees (Austin Westlake)

2011
Matthew Stafford (Dallas Highland Park)

2012
Robert Griffin (Copperas Cove)

The last Texas High School quarterback the Dallas Cowboys defeated at home was Josh McCown (Jacksonville) of the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8 of 2005.
