The Right Hand Men
Each leader has a guy with them that carries out their dirty work and helps them out of jams. In the show, Rick has Darryl and the Governor has Merle. In Dallas, Tony Romo has his pal tight end Jason Witten. Witten has put up shocking statistical numbers this season, highlighted by his 18 catch, 150 yard performance against the New York Giants two weeks ago. Witten is more like Darryl, soft spoken, does his job and is lethal when given the proper equipment and let loose to do what he does best. Michael Vick has a right hand man as well, in DeSean Jackson. Jackson is more like Merle. Merle was left for dead and forced to mutilate himself to survive. The same could be said for Jackson, in less gruesome circumstances. Last year he was labeled in a brutal contract dispute and ruined his perception with the fans. Some of the frustrations spilled over to his play on the field. Jackson’s play has dropped off since his contract issues surfaced. Even though he has gotten a new contract, the numbers have not come back. Merle is an unstable guy and needs constant monitoring from the Governor, so does Jackson. Jackson is a temperamental guy and can be dynamic at times and destructive. You just never know if he is going to blow up the other team or self destruct. Every leader needs a go to guy, Rick has Darryl, the Governor has Merle, Romo has Witten and Vick has Jackson. Each leader leans on their guy to produce results to accomplish their given missions.
