Dallas Cowboys: A Tale Of Two Teams

The never ending circus only seems to continue. This past Sunday the Cowboys put another victory in the win column with a victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. From week to week this team goes from one extreme to the other and somehow in all of that they are able to find another extreme.

In the first game against the Giants both sides of the ball played a stellar game and got us all excited for what the season had in store. Game two against the Seahawks was a reality check as neither side seemed to be prepared and the Hawks exposed us. As if all that wasn’t crazy enough, then this week the defense came out ready to play and the offense was the one that lagged behind.

Interpret the stats or the victories whichever way you will but at the end of the day the Cowboys are still in very good position. We are only three games into the season and I think Meatloaf put it best when he said “two outta three ain’t bad”. We seemed to get lost in the ugliness of the victories that we seem to forget that sometimes those ugly games teach us more about our team than the beautiful ones.

Let’s face it, the team is going to have some bad games but what is most exciting about last week’s game was that, although it was far from perfect, the Boys were still able to pull out the win.

Someone famous once said that championships are won on our worst days. Let’s stop expecting perfection or complaining about the victory and just rejoice in the fact that we got the victory.

Yeah maybe Jason Witten has shown us something this season that he hasn’t shown us in his entire career. The fact of the matter is that Witten has probably won us more games than he has dropped balls. Yeah maybe the offensive line needs to make significant strides but let’s think for a second that they did keep out the daunted Giants defensive line. That may not be what we should expect for the entire season but it does prove that the potential is there.

Basically let’s just remember to keep the faith. Yeah we may never know which Cowboys team is going to come out of the locker room but we do know that they have the potential to be the best. And I think all of us as Cowboys fans have the faith and know that at any moment they are going to put it together.

A win is a win no matter how ugly it is. There is plenty of season still to play and even more good news is that we got the original referees back. Be proud fans, the product might be ugly thus far but what else would be the point of playing a sixteen game season if we weren’t allowed to expect improvement. I think we are about to find out who this team really is.
