The John “Hannibal” Smith Award is given to the player or coach who demonstrates a high level of intelligence, planning and a certain amount of cunning. And although their methods may be unorthodox, they are effective.
And the winner is….Quarterback Tony Romo. Romo’s ability to adjust to the Giants massive pass rush was Houdiniesque. How could you not give this award to a guy who yelled “kill-kill-kill” all night. But there was a method to Romo’s madness. His audibles at the line were responsible for some huge plays the ultimately made the difference in the game. After throwing an effective 22 of 29 passes for 307 yards, and three touchdowns, now it’s time for Romo to sit back, enjoy a nice big cigar and say “I love it when a plan comes together”.
