I was impressed by two things with the Dallas Cowboys this preseason. With several new players, the first team defense are already performing well together. I was also inspired by quaterback Tony Romo’s play in the St. Louis preseason game. With three of his main receivers sidelined by injuries, he made the backup group of receivers look like starters. There are some things that do concern me with this team. When you look at the first half of the schedule, the Cowboys arguably has the toughest schedule. Six of their first 9 games are on the road. Another thing that worries me is the lack of depth at almost every offensive position, with the exception of Kyle Orton at quaterback. Here is my game by game prediction.

Week 1 @ N.Y Giants: With tight end Jason Witten likely to be out of the game recovering from a lacerated spleen, and wide receivers Miles Austin and Dez Bryant probably not 100%, the Cowboys have little chance of winning the game against the current NFL champions. LOSS 0-1

Week 2 @ Seattle: The defense will make Seattle’s rookie quaterback Russell Wilson, look like a rookie. Cowboys win in a landslide. WIN 1-1

Week 3 vs. Tampa Bay: I think Tampa Bay could be a surprising team this year. But they will have not hit their rhythm this early in the season . WIN 2-1

Week 4 vs. Chicago: I think the Cowboys might be looking forward to the bye week too much. The Bears have a one/two punch of running backs Matt Forte and Michael Bush. Quaterback Jay Cutler finally has a receiver to throw to in Brandon Marshall. LOSS 2-2

Week 6 @ Baltimore: Coming out of their bye week, Cowboys have to go on the road to face a possible Super Bowl caliber team in the Ravens. I think I would have picked a rested Dallas team if they were playing at home. LOSS 2-3

Week 7 @ Carolina: Carolina will eventually be a playoff team with quaterback phenom Cam Newton. This will probably happen next year though. WIN 3-3

Week 8 vs. N.Y. Giants: The Giants have a 5-1 record in the last 3 years against the Cowboys including 3 road wins at Dallas in each of those years. It is hard to pick against the Giants here. LOSS 3-4
