Are We Ready for Cowboys Football?

Jumping up and down and everyone get very excited.  Tomorrow it’s FINALLY here!  The day Dallas plays their first pre-season game against the Oakland Raiders!  From all the reports coming out of training camp I”m going to pin point what in my opinion to watch for and pick a few of my so far favorite players from training camp to focus on.

As news comes out of training camp hearing that the offensive line isn’t getting it together quite yet is a bit disturbing.  Watching the center match up is going to be key to having a decent season.  Phil Costa seems to be having a difficult time at center before his injury to his back that when in shot gun formation he was hiking the ball over Tony Romo’s head.  Now to give Costa the benefit of the doubt, even though he played center last season, depending on the game depended on how well he did, he didn’t play the center position at the University of Maryland until his senior year.  Before playing center he played guard and in my opinion I think he’s more comfortable with that position.  But it is a new season and this is something he should have worked on during the off-season.  Now that he is not projected to play tomorrow night, it really shows the lack of depth that is currently at the center position so much so, even Coach Jason Garrett is looking at the short list for free agents and Andre Gurode is at the top of that list.   Now for the pre-season game tomorrow us Dallas fans get to watch David Arkin replace Costa, so it should be an interesting series for Romo.

The other exciting thing to see in the first pre-season game is who will start at the number 3 wide receiver position.  Reports that I’ve heard are saying that it’s more than likely Cole Beasley will start at third wide receiver but there are quite a few match ups on the wide receiver front to look at, such as Raymond Radway, Dwayne Harris and Danny Coale even though he may be a bit rusty.

So with those key positions to watch for, it’s going to be exciting to see Dallas in pre-season football against Oakland regardless of the outcome!
