It’s training camp time and this week has been a media filled week with injuries, people leaving, team updates but the most media worthy stories have been all about what Jerry Jones has said. Now we all know Jerry Jones is the owner we love to hate. He won’t be denied his enthusiasm, as he owns the team. But it’s only training camp! So the question remains, is Jerry Jones “writing checks” so to speak that the team will be unable to cash by doing instead of saying.
After last weeks blog, my sentiments on still being a little bit above average team hasn’t changed, but hearing the news out of training camp with players losing heart and not wanting to continue on in the journey to become a Dallas Cowboy, the injuries to Jason Hatcher and Morris Claiborne, Jerry Jones guaranteeing a win on September 5th, and most especially with the “Glory Hole” days; once again Dallas has become a spectacles to the media. It’s only the first full week of training camp and the news is both good and bad coming out of camp but that has been with any team. Dallas still isn’t stacked depth wise enough for comfort for a huge run this season in a long if any playoff run. Even Jason Garrett has come out this week and said Dallas needs help at center and wide receiver to pin point specifics.
The Cowboys are a better team going into this season and even though people have said over and over again Dallas looks good on paper, it’s still not comforting to hear the talk coming out of Dallas from Mr. Jones stating that we will be the best team in the NFC East. It just seems like every time a coach, owner or player starts talking about how good this team will be, the “checks” always seem to bounce and eventually come back to bite Dallas in the bottom.
