Buying into the Media Hype Surrounding The Dallas Cowboys

Here we go again! 80-days until the 2012/2013 NFL season begins and already the media is asking “Is this the year? Will The Dallas Cowboys live up to the hype?”  Some say “yes” while others say “no”.

First we will look at the Yes people.

Yes, because the Cowboys have the talent in players such as Tony Romo, Jason Witten, DeMarcus Ware, Morris Claiborne , Brandon Carr, and from what we saw last year, DeMarco Murray.  Yes, because they have a full off-season to learn the complicated schemes of Rob Ryan and on the other side of the ball, a familiar comfort zone in Jason Garrett’s offense.  The offense is comfortable with the players as they have had at least one season to get in sync.

Now let’s look at the No’s.

The nay-sayers will refute that Jason Garrett has been the offensive coordinator for 5 seasons and yet these talented players are unable to execute the plays.  The offensive line still has some holes to fill as well and from mini camp and OTA’s it appears the competition is fierce but are these players all good enough? Then there is the center position that has left much to be desired.  Then you look at the defense and notice the safety position and wonder if they are good enough to bring that position back as a threat and extra help to the cornerback position something it hasn’t been since Darren Woodson left.

Naturally it’s still too early to tell since the rosters haven’t even been set.  Even so, which side would you be on?

On a side note, Happy Father’s Day to all the dad’s out there!
