Bears Select Jeffery With Cowboys 45th Pick

by Cowboys

The Cowboys traded their 2nd round pick yesterday to the Rams in order to move up 8 spots and select Morris Claiborne.  Today, the Rams traded that pick again.  They swapped with the Chicago Bears moving themselves back 5 spots to the 5oth pick and getting an extra 5th round pick (150th overall).  With the 45th pick, the Bears selected WR Alshon Jeffery from South Carolina.  Stay tuned.

Consensus is that the Cowboys would have taken Peter Konz, Center from Wisconsin had they retained this pick – so, likely Brockers and Konz without the trade.  I’m pretty happy with Claiborne instead!

Update:  Looks like the Cowboys are in fact going to sit out the 2nd round – no sense trading up at this late stage.  Two guys that had been on the Cowboys’ radar – Peter Konz (Falcons, 55th pick) and WR Ryan Broyles (Lions, 54th pick) are gone.  Where do they go in the 3rd round?
