With Senior Bowl scouting in full swing this week, mock drafts have been have been struggling to keep up all the college prospects raising and falling down most expert’s big boards. Big names like Courtney Upshaw of Alabama, Quinton Coples of North Carolina, and Janoris Jenkins of North Alabama seem to be on an uptake. While early favorites like Dre Kirkpatrick and Lamar Miller seemed to be dropping closer to the second round. In an effort to stay current, here is our updated draft a.k.a. TLH’s Mock Draft 2.0.

If this was how the draft played out I would trade down to the low to mid 20′s and pick up another 2nd round pick. There are good defensive picks in the lower 1st round and starters in the 2nd round. DeCastro would still be my preference.
This is one of the first mock drafts I have seen this week that has the Cowboys going with someone other than Kirkpatrick from Bama. Which is a guy I really like and think would fit well, although i have heard he has some character issues.
Don’t know much about Coples but he seems like he would be a great pick as well. Will be interesting to see what direction the Cowboys actually go on draft day.
@jrcowboy
I could see the Cowboys trading down and getting more picks they have done it in the past few drafts, but I don’t know if they will do that this year. All I know is that with the Cowboys history in the draft they need to make all the right picks and actually get guys that can help the team and actually stay on the team.
@Ashley Bolton
I used the trade down based upon Quinton Coples DE being the pick @ 14. I don’t like the pick.
We need to finalize the offensive line transformation and if Dave DeCastro is available with our 1st pick he should be selected. The remaining draft should focus on the defense. The defense will require 2 drafts. The playoffs this year has taught us some important changes. Offensive is important more so than defense. Look at the Packers and Patriots. Large TE and WR are key so why should we be drafting 5’10″ DB’s? Dre Kirkpatrick of Alabama or Stephon Gilmore CB from South Carolina who is 6’1″ is a strong candidate. Our focus should be on larger DB’s. Speed is essential. Look what Sproles did for the Saints. Dallas should look at LaMichael James RB from Oregon to provide that kind of spark.
@jrcowboy
I agree with you on Kirkpatrick I really like him and I don;t know enough about Coples to really have an opinion. However you are spot on about the defense, that is what the entire draft needs to be focused on, I do like what you pointed out about what the teams in the playoffs are doing with Sproles and other role guys. Well said and you have a great point about why trading down might be the best thing for the Cowboys.
@Ashley Bolton
Let’s hope that Jason Garrett will have strong input in this draft. I feel strongly with DeCastro pick if he is available as we have to finish the OL. We have to provide the protection for the QB in this pass happy environment and open holes for RB to take pressure of of QB. I also believe that LaMichael James RB from Oregon provides a different dimension as well as a strong 2 TE set. The rules are stacked on the offense and neither the Packers or Patriots have defense. We need to recognize how the game has changed and be on the leading edge. Defense is also important but we need DB that are large and fast enough to cover the large WR and TE. The defense will require 2 drafts to complete.
