Dallas Cowboy’s Tony Romo: ‘Mr November’!
Major league Baseball’s Reggie Jackson earned the nickname ‘Mr October’ because regardless of the regular season, Reggie always played his best, which was great, in October. That’s who he was. (side note: He was ‘Mr A**hole’ in person though. I know, I had the misfortune of meeting him once). Anyway, Reggie played for and got paid for October: the Pennant and the World Series. After another great game Sunday, where Romo went 23/37 292 yards and 3 TD’s and zero INT’s (for a 3rd straight game) as Dallas won 27 to 24 in OT, the case can easily be made [...]
It has been said to never under-estimate the power of emotion in rivalry games. If you have any doubts about that statement, you didn’t watch the Dallas Cowboys narrowly defeat the Washington Redskins in overtime this Sunday, 27-24. It was emotion that carried the game into an extra period, and ultimately to the third straight victory for the Cowboys. The pre-game hype about this game was the tale of two different teams on two very different paths. The 5-3 Cowboys seemed to have found their rhythm as of late beating the Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills respectively. The Washington Redskins [...]
Cowboys vs. Redskins: Mentality of a Winner?
It seems like the second game against Washington means something big every year. Last season, Jason Garrett was trying to prove he was the man for the Head Coaching job. In 2009, it was Dallas’ ticket to the playoffs. In 2008, it was Tony Romo’s return to the field after a four-week hiatus in which a win was necessary for the Cowboys to make the playoffs (they did not, despite beating Washington). In 2007, a win meant the best record in Cowboys history and keeping Washington out of the playoffs (it was a loss). Once again, the second “leg” of [...]

Dallas Cowboys vs Washington Redskins Preview: Offense
As the Dallas Cowboys offense gets ready to play the Washington Redskins this Sunday, you would expect that they are feeling better about themselves than they have in a long time. They scored TD’s on their first 4 possessions last week against Buffalo. The OL was excellent in pass protection and effective in run blocking. Tony Romo completed an astounding 23 of 26 attempts; Laurent Robinson caught 2 TD’s, including a 50 yard bomb; Bryant made plays in the 2nd half; Murray continued his assault on the Cowboy rushing records, and Witten, well, Witten always plays like a Hall of [...]

NFL Week 11: Cowboys vs. Redskins Game Predictions
Every week we ask all of The Landry Hat writers and contributors to submit their picks and predictions for the upcoming game. This week, we asked our experts for their opinion on the Dallas Cowboys vs. the Washington Redskins game on Sunday. Steven Mullenax, Editor & Head Writer: This game has blowout written all over it. But I think the loss of FB Tony Fiammetta and the fact that this is in Washington will hurt the Dallas run game. And that will, in turn, hurt the entire team. Combine that with the hatred the two franchises have for each other, [...]
5 Players to Watch For In The Cowboys vs. Redskins Game!
Laurent Robinson: Can he continue the success he has had the past few weeks? With Miles Austin out of the lineup, the Cowboys and Tony Romo have relied a lot on Robinson to make up for the loss of Austin. Robinson came up huge last weekend against the Bills, burning them for 73 yards but most importantly 2 touchdowns. He is giving Romo that 3rd option he was missing the last time Austin was sidelined. If Robinson can continue to play the way he has, it will give the Cowboys a wide range of options even when Austin returns. I [...]
Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins Preview: Defense
As the Dallas Cowboys prepare to play the Washington Redskins, it pains me to say that they are playing at FedEx Field. I had so much more respect for the Skins when they played at RFK (named for Robert F. Kennedy). I really hope that Jerry Jones never needs a few million dollars bad enough to sell the name of the stadium. The two teams appear to be heading in opposite directions: the Cowboys are winners of 2 in a row and are coming off an outstanding performance against the Bills; the Redskins are losers of 5 in a row [...]
