Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles: Halftime Report

(photo from dallascowboys.com)

It’s not looking good Cowboy fans as Dallas is being crushed by Philadelphia, 24-0 at halftime. Here are the highlights/lowlights, so far:

On the Eagles opening drive, their offense used four pass plays and four rushing plays to drive down the field fairly easily on the Dallas defense. Jeremy Maclin capped the long drive with a nice wideout screen play for a 12 yard touchdown. The Eagles took the early lead, 7-0.

On the Cowboy’s opening drive, a penalty and two sacks shutdown the Dallas offense early and forced a punt. It was a sign of things to come as the Eagles offense continued to roll. A 34 yard LeSean McCoy run lead to a short TD run for him. The Eagles extended the lead in the first quarter, 14-0.

On the next Cowboys offensive series, TE Martellus Bennett tipped a pass right into the Eagles secondary for an interception. The Eagles’ offense took advantage of the opportunity, with a Michael Vick to Brent Celek touchdown pass. The score jumped up to 21-0 early in the second quarter.

And on that drive, Cowboy’s ILB Sean Lee sprained his left wrist. He would not return. Keith Brooking would take his place. Philadelphia took advantage of this mis-match and continued to score at will. Just before the half, Vick would take the Eagles downfield again and score on a 24 yard field goal by rookie kicker Alex Henery. The Eagles take the lead into halftime, 24-0.

Neither Miles Austin or Dez Bryant have recorded a catch yet. The Eagles offense has recorded 324 yards so far. The Cowboys have just 94 yards. And rookie DeMarco Murray is responsible for 74 of those yards! Dallas is looking at an stiff uphill battle going into the second half.
