The Dallas Cowboys’ final injury report has been released and there were surprising revelations on the list. QB Tony Romo has been listed as questionable for Sunday’s early match-up with the Detroit Lions in Arlington. Romo was able to practice on a limited basis this week, but attended all the sessions. Although, it’s not a big surprise, it’s unfortunate that he wasn’t given a “probable” tag instead.
The other big name on the list was WR Dez Bryant. The second year wideout injured his thigh back in Week One against the New York Jets. He struggled on Monday night against the Washington Redskins, but ended up making some big plays. Evidently, the short turn around between games has hurt Dez’s healing process. After limited practice on Wednesday, Bryant missed the last two sessions. His ability to play will again be gauge just prior to the game in warm ups making him a game-time decision. His absence would be magnified since WR Miles Austin (hamstring) has been ruled out until after the bye-week.
Also listed as questionable for Sunday’s game is newly acquired FB Tony Fiammetta. The recent migrant from the Carolina Panthers was brought on to aid our struggling running game. But he suffered a hamstring injury this week that caused him to miss practices on both Thursday and Friday.
Our defensive line will take a big hit this week with the absence of defensive end Jason Hatcher, who has been ruled out already. Hatcher injured his calf muscle in the second quarter of Monday night’s game. He was unable to practice all week. The Cowboys’ defense relies heavily on a regular rotation of substitutions, keeping every player fresh and rested. With Hatcher out, that rotation is limited even more.
Players that are definitely out this week are: K David Buehler (groin), G Derrick Dockery (knee), and CB Orlando Scandrick (ankle). None of these player participated in practice sessions this week.
Players listed as probable are: C Phil Costa (knee & hearing – I added the latter one), CB Mike Jenkins (shoulder), RB Felix Jones (shoulder), and LB Anthony Spencer (shoulder). All of these player fully participated in every practice session this week.
